Historic Downtown Napa

A Wonderful Place to Live, Work and Visit

Napa's downtown features an active civic and social environment. Civic leadership and community teamwork have set the stage for the preservation of historic neighborhoods and buildings, balanced with a dynamic mix of retail , fine dining and professional offices. The City, County and courthouse facilities are all centrally located.

Historic downtown Napa is home to quaint Victorian-era buildings intertwined with a beautiful outdoor shopping mall, creating a pedestrian-friendly town center. Many community festivals take place each year in the downtown where thousands of "Napans" and visitors experience the ambiance of Napa Valley in the center of the city.

The arts further enrich downtown with studios and galleries; the newly renovated Jarvis Conservatory, now open for live performances; the landmark Opera House, currently under restoration; and the anticipated American Center for Wine, Food and Arts, scheduled to be open in 2001.

Downtown's charm is complimented by the beautiful Napa River. One can enjoy a meal at a waterfront eatery, take a stroll near the banks, or enjoy the view from a watercraft.

Downtown offers a variety of cuisine, or you can board the Napa Wine Train for a "meal on wheels," returning to downtown for a night cap or a movie. Several bed and breakfast inns, all fine examples of historic preservation, are just a stroll away.
