Beat the crowds
Top six memorable experiences in SoCal
There's more to Southern California than 1crowded tourist attractions, according to the Huffington Post, which recently came up with six memorable California experiences where you don't have to fight off the crowds. These are the lesser-known experiences that can be every bit as rewarding as the busy theme parks and movie studios.

Horseback riding

The Huffington Post said that horseback riding in the Santa Barbara's fresh air may be one of the most enjoyable things you'll ever do. The Santa Barbara area is loaded with vendors offering horseback rides and you'll be able to go along the beach or take tours into the bluffs where you can see upscale mansions and celebrity homes.

Kayaking in Channel Islands National Park

Channel Islands State Park is one of California's true treasures and these Ventura-area islands are especially appealing from a kayak, according to the Huffington Post. Tour companies such as Channel Islands Outfitters offer guided kayak expeditions of the five islands and you'll be able to find great snorkeling spots in sea caves and enjoy marine sanctuaries and reserves.

Jet ski on the ocean

Head for a Southern California beach and you're likely to find jet ski tours available. This is especially true when you travel to Newport Beach Harbor where Balboa Water Sports will rent you a jet ski on an hourly basis to explore the harbor area to your heart's delight. You can also take your jet ski to many nearby beach locations.

Stand-up paddleboarding

Huffington Post says you'll find a memorable stand-up paddleboarding experience in Orange County, where both Huntington Beach and Newport Beach harbors have boards for rent and stunning water views. You can do it as an individual or joint a group of paddleboarders.

Catch a professional surfing tournament

Who can forget those surf anthems of the Sixties and you'll be right back in it when you go to Huntington Beach, also known as Surf City USA. There are more than 50 surfing competitions throughout the year at Huntington so odds are pretty good you're going to find one to enjoy sometime during your visit.

Take surf lessons with a pro surfer

The experts will help you to surf in no time at Malibu and Seal Beach, according to the Huffington Post. Check out the Malibu Pier, which is a popular spot for surfing. Learn to Surf LA offers private sessions in Santa Monica and Zuma Beach in Malibu.
