Combo ticket saves money on five theme parks
The Southern California CityPASS 1 is proving to provide extra savings for visitors who want to experience several major theme parks in Los Angeles and San Diego. CityPass promises to save you up to 25 percent over ticket prices at the theme parks, although a lot has to do with how you use it.

The theory is you buy a pass for several attractions at a discounted price and save money because of lower prices for each park. When you buy the SoCal CityPASS book, it has tickets for each attraction. You have 14 days from the time you visit your first attraction to use up the book. The book can be purchased online, or at the parks.

The Southern California CityPASS includes the following:

*Disneyland: 3-day Park Hopper tickets with Magic Morning included

*Legoland: 1-day admission to the main park, but not to the aquarium or water park

*Sea World San Diego: 1-day ticket

*San Diego Zoo tickets (add-on): You can get into the zoo or their Safari Park as part of your package and if you want to visit both of them, you get a 10% discount on the second one. To add San Diego Zoo parks, you have to buy your pass online.

Industry watchers say there are certain ways you'll save the maximum amount of money. For example, if your child is 3 to 9 years old, the percentage savings on their CityPASS are somewhat higher than adults. Also, CityPass is the only such pass that offers a significant discount on Disneyland tickets.

To maximize savings you need to visit all three of the main attractions. If your focus is on Disneyland, you can save more money at Disneyland by simply buying their discount books. If your emphasis is on LA or San Diego, you can save more money by using the Go Los Angeles and Go San Diego cards.
