Cheesy
Point Reyes tour takes you to 4 cheese-makers
Point Reyes has come up with a new definition of cheese head Ė anyone that is into cheese enough to take a new 1tour of Point Reyes area cheese makers. Itís kind of like a pub crawl or a wine tasting tour or a craft brewery tour, except the object of this tour is cheese.

The tour is being offered by West Marin Food and Farm Tours. Itís guided and will take guests to four artisan cheese makers. Along the way guests will get to sample cow, goat, sheep and even water buffalo cheeses.

Participants wonít just be touring the cheese kitchens, but will also get to visit dairy farms and meet the animals who give up the milk used in making the cheese. Guests will get to experience the whole cheese-making process. The tours run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays and you can take a group of up to seven people. Cost is $170 per person.

If you have not been to the Point Reyes area, itís just an hour north from San Francisco and feels like you have gone overseas. Along the way, youíll go through small, picturesque towns and before long you come to the Point Reyes Seashore, an incredible landscape with spectacular vistas of the ocean and shoreline. Youíll be able to take a hike on one of the more than 125 miles of trails in the area and the best news is you wonít find the hordes of tourists that you often find at Californiaís best-known tourist attractions.

If you take a trip out to the famed Point Reyes Lighthouse, be aware that weather here can be a little tricky. Fog can come at any time of the year, but the tendency is for it to be foggy in the interior and clear on the coastline in winter. In summer, the fog is reversed.
