Ninth year
Festival del Sole proving popular Napa event
It's been going on for eight years now and this 1year's Festival del Sole in Napa, California, promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The festival is an arts event that is packed with musical performances and arts celebrations that will keep visitors busy throughout the festival's 10-day run, July 12-21.

Highlights this year include what they are calling classical music's rock star, violinist Joshua Bell, who will perform along with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra. Also planned is special tribute to actress Sofia Loren with concerts led by Carlo Ponti Jr., her son.

Visitors can also experience special festival-related lunches and dinners at Meadowood Resort and other spectacular wine estates in the valley.

A visit to Napa anytime of year is almost a spiritual journey as visitors take in the European elegance that is now part of the Valley lifestyle. The vistas are breathtaking with more than 60,000 acres of vineyards. As you drive through the area, every few minutes you come across a new Kodak moment.

The town of Napa is just a small city of 75,000 residents, but major new shopping complexes and world-renowned wineries make the city seem much bigger. The valley, which is home to hundreds of wineries, is about 30 miles long altogether and you'll find interesting and picturesque small towns like Yountfille, St. Helena and Calistoga all worth stopping to explore.
