Colossus fire
Famous wooden roller coaster damaged in blaze
The famous wooden roller coaster Colossus was damaged by fire in early September after being sparked by a welder working on the roller coaster. There were no injuries, but a portion of the roller coaster collapsed.

Located at Magic Mountain in Valencia, the roller coaster is legendary among California theme parks and opened 36 years ago. The park plans to re-open the roller after rebuilding it into a wood-and-steel structure named Twisted Colossus. It's scheduled to open in 2015.

About 3,000 feet of track will be removed from the structure as it is being transformed into the new roller coaster.
