Best places in San Diego to drink outsideAh yes, San Diego's outdoor bars. With year-round sunny weather, chances are you're going to find someplace you like most any time you're looking for that special place to sip a cool drink while enjoying a warm sunny glow.
Okay, might be a little chilly at certain times of the year if you let the sun go down, but great outdoor drinking is just about round the clock in summer and early fall. Besides, there are those trusty outdoor heaters to keep you warm in a pinch.
If all of this already has you booking your ticket to San Diego, be advised that San Diego Magazine has come up with an interesting Top 10 list of drinking spots that happen to be outdoors. They were chosen for various reasons including views, drinks, ambiance, location -- but they all have one thing in common: They're great places to soak up the atmosphere while you also soak up a little sun.
The top of the list is a place called C Level on Harbor Island, which features a fantastic view and fun, unique libations. Next down the list is Cantina Mayahuel where you can enjoy first-rate tacos on a colorful outdoor patio -- it's where the people in Normal Heights like to hang out for their tequila and margaritas.
Out in Point Loma, Jimmy's Famous American Tavern holds the No. 3 spot, mainly beause of the marina breezes close by. Tom Ham's Lighthouse has the impressive bay view and $1 oysters during happy hour.
Rounding out the Top 5 is the Prado in Balboa Park, where you'll enjoy the park's incredible natural beauty as you down your blood orange cosmo.
